Since leaving Camberwell College of Art in 1988, Justine has been primarily working with hand-built porcelain. Her work addresses the boundaries between function and decoration. Form is paramount to her, function is a driving motivation, but it is the aesthetics of a piece that are key to her making.
Kate studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton. After graduating, she participated in an international ceramic residency in Japan where she worked alongside established Japanese, Korean, and American artists. On her return, Kate set up her ceramic studio in London where she worked for nearly ten years. She now works from her garden studio in Kent making raku and stoneware pieces.
Hannah’s pots are inspired by traditional British earthenwares and her decoration is derived from the world around her. Often the floral abundance in her garden and the surrounding wilds, both cultivated and untamed, are referenced in her pots. Sometimes there are political statements veiled in imagery of folklore and symbolism.
Richard Phethean is a long established professional potter whose work has been exhibited and collected widely across the UK and Europe. He is a Fellow of, and recently retired as Chair of the Craft Potters Association, a member of the Cornwall Crafts Association and of the Penwith Society of Artists.
Clare Conrad's work is an exploration of colour and texture, inspired by the effects of light and ageing on architecture, artefacts and landscape. Her technique of layering vitreous slip onto wheel-thrown vessels, vases and bowls creates a rugged texture.
Fiona’s focus is mainly on hand built ceramic vessels, with multiple layered surfaces. They combine traditional and contemporary processes. Pieces are first usually coiled or slab built, then painted and printed with coloured slips.
