Jeremy Steward

medium serving bowl

£340.00 PRODUCT CODE:JS254Y363

This twin handled bowl is wheel-thrown and altered in black stoneware clay. It is decorated with a rouletted rim and foot and is fired with an ash glaze interior and salt vapour in a wood kiln which creates depth and complexity in the surface. This bowl features a delightful chance feature where Jeremy left the piece outdoors to dry before firing, and a passing shower has left indelible marks of raindrops on the surface of the interior.

About this maker

Jeremy trained in Falmouth, Cornwall and then in Cardiff before being invited to join Wobage Workshop in rural Herefordshire in 1995. From here, he makes wheel-thrown, wood-fired salt-glazed stoneware and porcelain. He and his wife Petra, also a potter and printmaker, live on the edge of the Forest of Dean. They were invited to join the Wobage studios as part-time apprentices to Mick and Sheila Casson, a role they maintained until Mick’s death in 2003.
