All of our makers are members of the Craft Potters Association and each of them have a story to tell.

John MacKenzie

John completed a degree in ceramics at Harrow University in 2001 where he became intrigued by wood-fired ceramics and kiln building. He has since built several wood-fired kilns and has been exploring the unique colours, surfaces and effects which can only be achieved with this process.

Juliet Macleod makes wheel-thrown porcelain that imparts an evocative exploration of the Scottish coast. Using a distillation of drawings and photographs made over many years, she creates contemplative pieces which hope to engage the viewer and spark their own memories.

Emily-Kriste Wilcox

Emily-Kriste Wilcox works from her studio in Birmingham, and has been a professional ceramicist for over 15 years. She was recently awarded 'Best Ceramics and Painting Studio 2020' in the West Midlands category of the UK Enterprise Awards.

John Kershaw

John comes from a family of engineers going back several generations, so it was natural for him to follow suit. However, he made an unenthusiastic engineer, and after several years teaching he went back to college and gained a place on the 3D course at Manchester College of Art where he was introduced to clay for the first time.

Bev Bell-Hughes

When Bev was at art school in the late sixties, her final thesis focused on the relationship between natural forms and clay. However, it was only since 1978 when she moved to Wales, that she developed her work to relate directly to where she lives.
