Contemporary Ceramics gallery and shop exhibits the greatest collectable names in British ceramics along with the most up and coming artists of today. Our distinguished makers are all carefully selected members of the Craft Potters Association.
All of our makers are members of the Craft Potters Association and each of them have a story to tell.
Dan Kelly trained at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts where Colin Pearson was an initial influence, encouraging him to develop his throwing technique. His stoneware pots are defined by the way he manipulates them - cutting and reshaping by hand.
There was a time when Sarah’s work referenced landscape more directly.
Landscape is still pivotal for her, but now in a more internal, abstracted and oblique way.
The clay structure is the earthy foundation, the surface marks, colours and textures are
transient moments of weather and light, season and time.
Patricia has been living and working on the Isle of Skye for the past 25 years. Her work is informed and inspired by the powerful landscape of the island.
Kirsty graduated from the Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking course at Glasgow School of Art in 2009. She subsequently attended life sculpture classes which led her to working with clay.
Inspired by day-to-day experiences, local landscape and wildlife, Kirsty’s ceramics are an exploration of gesture, form, colour, and place.
Robyn creates finely thrown vessels in porcelain, for both decoration and use. She is inspired by the combination of delicacy and strength in porcelain. She creates pieces whose pared-back forms evoke a sense of balance and harmony, whether in a bowl wide open to the skies or a moon jar in its spherical containment. Surface decoration is minimal - an incised line around a narrow foot, or a slip decoration to add a dynamic to the stillness of a moon jar.
