Alistair studied ceramics at Bath Academy of Art and set up his first pottery studio in Gloucestershire in 1978, producing thrown reduction fired stoneware for a range of companies. While continuing with his own making he later took on the running of the studio ceramics department at The Royal Forest of Dean College and instigating a series of potters conferences.
SaeRi strives to intertwine personal narrative with broader social and cultural influences, creating a visual representation of her experiences. Central to her artistic exploration is the profound impact of the "good child syndrome" that has shaped her identity since her youth. This complex, deeply rooted in societal and cultural expectations, has greatly influenced her journey as an artist.
Making in her hometown of Stoke-on-Trent, Laura draws from the creative heritage and ambition of the pioneering potters who made the city famous. Her contemporary forms echo the grandeur of 18th century ceramics, she has long admired. Thrown in porcelain, each piece is a unique ‘sketch’ in clay, carefully turned and refined to reveal the precise form.
The functional wheel-thrown pots that Carl creates are modest but highly
considered and precisely made, sometimes altered when wet, often with
spontaneous, energetic surface marks. Everything is conceived in the
knowledge that his work will be wood-fired.
While still at school Sotis displayed a talent for art and developed a keen interest in three-dimensional art in particular. He later enrolled in a four-year degree course at the Athens School of Ceramics. After his degree he came to the UK
Antonia Salmon’s ceramic sculptures have been exhibited and sold into collections throughout the UK and internationally for over 35 years. She has also worked with interior designers and individuals to complete commissions for corporate, hotel and home collections.
