Ikuko Iwamoto is a London-based Japanese artist who uses porcelain to create eccentric table-top pieces and sculpture. Her fundamental inspiration comes from intricate and fragile looking structures, and odd forms found in the microscopic world.
James and Tilla Waters create their pieces from a studio in Mid-Wales. Carefully considering where hands hold pieces and edges meet mouths, their forms have classic clean lines with beautifully balanced proportions.
Clive Bowen was born in Cardiff in 1943. Initially studying painting and etching at Cardiff College of Art from 1960 to 1964, Clive went on to train as an apprentice with Michael Leach at the Yelland Pottery in North Devon from 1965 until 1969. He worked alongside Michael Cardew at Wenford Bridge before setting up his own pottery in 1971 when he bought a small agricultural property at Shebbear, near Holsworthy in North Devon and set up a workshop in the former farm outhouses.
Since leaving Camberwell College of Art in 1988, Justine has been primarily working with hand-built porcelain. Her work addresses the boundaries between function and decoration. Form is paramount to her, function is a driving motivation, but it is the aesthetics of a piece that are key to her making.
Jim Malone has been making pots for over forty years, gradually establishing an international reputation. Having exhibited widely over many years, both in Britain and abroad, Jim's work is represented in numerous private and public collections, including York Museum and Art Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
“I aim to blur the dividing lines between art and craft. I use clay or porcelain as my canvas, creating illustrated plates for installations or vessels as sculptural displays.
