James and Tilla Waters create their pieces from a studio in Mid-Wales. Carefully considering where hands hold pieces and edges meet mouths, their forms have classic clean lines with beautifully balanced proportions.
Winners of the 2011 Wesley-Barrell Craft Award and the 2013 Homes and Gardens Design Award for Ceramics and Glass James and Tilla first met as apprentices for Rupert Spira in 1998. It was there they first learnt throwing techniques, how to work with stoneware and porcelain while developing glazes and decorative techniques they continue to explore today.
Now living and working near the Brecon Beacons in Wales, UK, with their three daughters, their partnership combines James’s making skills with Tilla’s love of colour and design.
