

Sarah studied at Bath Spa University where she graduated with a BA(Hons) in Ceramics. She met fellow potter Jon Williams there, they married and set up their studio in 1994 at Eastnor Pottery, near Ledbury, Herefordshire. She collaborates with her husband to offer pottery experiences from Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter. They run creative short courses and workshops which are open to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities.
Sarah designs and makes small batch slipware. Her approach is relaxed and playful which translates through to the finished pieces. Pieces are wheel-thrown, slab-built and hand-built with terracotta clay. Slips are brushed and splattered. Sgraffito designs are freely etched into surfaces and clay sprig motifs applied, making the pieces pleasingly tactile. All making happens at the wet clay stage. After a biscuit firing, nothing else is added to the surface except for a simple lead-free glaze.
