Dylan Bowen makes slip decorated earthenware using traditional and contemporary techniques and materials. The clay can be thrown, hand built, carved or moulded depending on what is needed. Slips are poured, trailed or brushed on. He works on a small but ever mutating range of shapes, attempting to capture some of the action and spontaneity of the making process.
The careful traditions of English slipware are unseated and then thoroughly reworked through the ceramics of Dylan Bowen who has taken this English inheritance and very definitely made it his own.
Dylan trained with his father, Clive Bowen at Shebbear Pottery before studying at Camberwell School of Art
