This hand-built earthenware installation brings together a group of individual sculptural pieces that can be arranged in a variety of configurations, allowing a sense of play in the composition. Made in terracotta clay, they are finished with finely detailed, hand-painted slip decoration and touches of gold lustre. Together, the individually decorated elements form a richly detailed, painterly composition.

About this maker
Jenny Southam studied Fine Art in Bristol where she developed her practice in Sculpture, gravitating towards bronze. After several years working as a sculptor and bronze-casting assistant in Gloucestershire she moved to Devon, where she embraced clay as her medium of choice. For thirty years her family, home, garden and studio has formed an integrated whole.
