Meet Our Makers

All of our makers are members of the Craft Potters Association and each of them have a story to tell.

Fiona Thompson

Fiona’s focus is mainly on hand built ceramic vessels, with multiple layered surfaces. They combine traditional and contemporary processes.  Pieces are first usually coiled or slab built, then painted and printed with coloured slips.

Paul Jackson

Paul studied studio ceramics under renowned ceramic sculptor, Mo Jupp at Harrow School of Art, graduating in 1977. Following a short period teaching in London, he relocated to Cornwall, where he established his pottery in 1979. He moved to his present home at Helland Bridge, where he works in a studio converted from an old chapel, in 1989.

Margaret Frith

Margaret was introduced to clay at Bolton College of Art and studied at Stoke-on-Trent School of Art under ex-Bernard Leach apprentice Derek Emms. It was here that she met her husband-to-be, David Frith. They established their first workshop in the mid sixties and have been based in their 18th Century woollen mill workshop in Denbigh, North Wales since 1976, where they continue after fifty years to teach and create their own work.

Patia Davis

Patia studied at Harrow College of Further Education 1986 – 1988 and subsequently spent a further two years at Cardiff School of Art and Design from 1998 – 1990. During her time at Harrow and Cardiff she was tutored by Mick Casson, which after her graduation led to an invitation by Mick and Sheila Casson to join the team at Wobage in 1990. This is where Patia continues to work today in her own workshop making slip decorated earthenware and high-fired ash and feldspathic glazed porcelain.  Patia was made a Fellow of the CPA in 2015, and has exhibited in the UK, Japan and Europe.

Anna Silverton

Anna is known for her finely wheel-thrown porcelain vases and bowls and her meticulous attention to detail. Having trained at Camberwell School of Art and the Royal College of Art, she spent time teaching in the US before returning to London. She established her ceramics workshop almost 30 years ago, which is now based in South London at her home in Sydenham.

Jaeeun Kim

Jaeeun Kim is a South Korean ceramic artist working in London. She began her artistic career in ceramics and art therapy. After earning a Masters degree in Ceramic Art from Kyunghee University in South Korea, she worked as a ceramic artist, university lecturer, and art therapist for disabled children.
