Peter Lane

Porcelain, with its fine texture, purity and whiteness, allows Peter to explore relationships between form and surface in a way that is more rewarding than with any other clay. Wheel-thrown vessel forms offer infinite opportunities for subtle variations, but his particular concern, while attempting to achieve harmony and balance in the work, is to express his feelings for the natural world through the positive radiation of light and colour.

Jill Fanshawe Kato’s enduring fascination with the natural world stems from her upbringing in the Devonshire countryside and her subsequent travels. Besides many shows in the UK, Jill has had 46 exhibitions of her ceramics in Japan including 11 solo shows at Keio Department Store Gallery, Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Delfina Emmanuel

As a child, Emmanuel grew up surrounded by the traditions and perfumes of Sardinia, a land rich in marine life. Her work is influenced by her native culture with its music and folk-costumes of luxuriant materials adorned with precious jewels. She was captivated by the gentle flowing of the living creatures found in the seabed, particularly by coral and the variety of porous sponges.

Making in her hometown of Stoke-on-Trent, Laura draws from the creative heritage and ambition of the pioneering potters who made the city famous. Her contemporary forms echo the grandeur of 18th century ceramics, she has long admired. Thrown in porcelain, each piece is a unique ‘sketch’ in clay, carefully turned and refined to reveal the precise form.

Simon’s porcelain collection is a series he made based on his experience while on a residency in Jingdezhen, China. The series mixes modernity with the millennia-old heritage of Chinese porcelain. The work features hand painted brush strokes that capture the energy and artistry of traditional Chinese calligraphy.
