With both of her parents being artists, Kerry’s childhood was surrounded by paintings, sculpture, and architecture. They had a potter friend and spent quiet hours in her studio. She went on to gain a BA Hons Ceramics at University of Westminster.
Kerry is inspired by the making process itself, using clay as a way of exploring her relationship to the world as a maker. She seeks creative strategies analogous to those found in nature such as growth, metamorphosis, and fragmentation.
John Jelfs' work has been widely exhibited in leading galleries including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Alpha House in Sherborne, Beaux Arts, Bath, Rufford Ceramics Centre in Nottingham and is also included in many collections in the UK and abroad.
Daphne Carnegy makes a range of thrown, and sometimes hand-built, painted tin-glazed earthenware which combine an awareness of historical precedents with her passion for plants.
Kate studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton. After graduating, she participated in an international ceramic residency in Japan where she worked alongside established Japanese, Korean, and American artists. On her return, Kate set up her ceramic studio in London where she worked for nearly ten years. She now works from her garden studio in Kent making raku and stoneware pieces.
Marcus produces expressive functional stoneware and porcelain rooted in the Leach Hamada tradition. He is also greatly inspired by the Irish landscape.
Jude undertook a foundation course at Somerset College of Art & Design, then gained a Dip. AD at Gloucester College of Art & Design in Fine Art (Sculpture with Painting). At art school, Jude worked mainly in bronze. She married John Jelfs in 1972 and became a potter. Jude and John live and work at the Cotswold Pottery, located in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, UK.
