This mug is wheel-thrown in stoneware clay with bands of neon coral and white glazes contrasting with a neon coral interior. The bright glaze colours contrasting with the bare clay are inspired the vivid and rugged terrain of a formative period of Lesley’s life in Australia. Decorative details are picked out with stain and reference ancient artefacts, period garden ornamentation and architecture.

She discovered ceramics at an early age, in Australia, where the textures and colours of the landscapes and terrain greatly influenced her. She studied firstly in Australia where she gained a Diploma (Distinction) in Ceramics at Caulfield Institute of Technology in 1982.
