Ant first encountered pottery in primary school. His teacher, Mr Wright introduced him to clay and planted the beginnings of a lifelong passion. He started out as a science teacher but gave up teaching in his late twenties after years of evening classes and moved to Lincolnshire to set up his own pottery workshop.
The Peak District Pennine landscape and seasons are the backdrop to everything Timothy does. He makes pottery on the border between function and sculpture: in essence vases, bowls, bottles and cups, though these are really just what he calls 'serving suggestions'. His work is multiple-fired, often starting with the wood kiln and ending with lustres.
Angela has been working in bone china since 1991 using traditional slip casting techniques: designing her own models, making plaster moulds, and finally slipcasting translucent pieces. Conventional forms, vessels, bowls and plates retain both their functional identity but also serve as a natural canvas for decoration. Her work develops in series mostly inspired by nature; depending on the decoration each series has its own identity.
Kate studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton. After graduating, she participated in an international ceramic residency in Japan where she worked alongside established Japanese, Korean, and American artists. On her return, Kate set up her ceramic studio in London where she worked for nearly ten years. She now works from her garden studio in Kent making raku and stoneware pieces.
Emily-Kriste Wilcox works from her studio in Birmingham, and has been a professional ceramicist for over 15 years. She was recently awarded 'Best Ceramics and Painting Studio 2020' in the West Midlands category of the UK Enterprise Awards.
Hajeong Lee Rogers grew up in a suburb of Seoul the South Korean capital. She has received many awards for her work including the National Award for Craft Art in 2005, which was awarded for a large ceramic sculpture - the size of a small car. Her pieces are held in collections across the UK, and within the USA.
