Inspired by a Chinese bottle gifted to her as a child, each piece Carolyn makes assumes its own identity with the application of transferred decoration. Collected imagery and text tell stories from lives past and present centring around the human condition and covering themes both significant and trivial.
John Higgins has a degree in 3D Design / Ceramics from the College of Art Wolverhampton, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Art Education, from Sussex University. Throughout his career in education, he has continued to make his own ceramics. He has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally.
Josefina is a Colombian born ceramicist living and working in London. She gained a BFA in crafts from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, under the guidance of world-renowned potter, James Makins.
Gilles makes a variety of functional and one –off thrown stoneware pieces. His forms are freely manipulated on the potter’s wheel, some are altered and joined to construct taller larger pieces, other have incised marks applied to the soft clay revealing a subtle and tactile quality to the work, carrying a sense of captured sculptural movement.
James and Tilla Waters create their pieces from a studio in Mid-Wales. Carefully considering where hands hold pieces and edges meet mouths, their forms have classic clean lines with beautifully balanced proportions.
Stephen Parry first trained at Croydon College of Art between 1974 - 1977, then moving on to Dartington Workshop until 1979 before discovering a passion for wood-fired ceramics in France.
