Sean's love of slipware first began whilst attending the studio pottery course at Harrow College of Art in the late 1980s. Now 30 years and three workshops later he is still making slipware. Since 2007, after moving from London, Sean has been working in an old converted stone barn in Southern Brittany, France.
Lea Phillips makes a wide range high fired stoneware pottery, mostly functional plus some larger one-off pieces. All the ceramics are wheel-thrown, fired in an electric kiln and decorated with free abstract designs using vibrant colourful glazes made to her own recipes. A firm believer that oxidised firing is no barrier to interesting surfaces Lea enjoys glaze development and the challenge of combining form, colour, and pattern.
John left art school in 1970 and dug trenches for gas pipes for a living. Later, through his college friend’s brother (who was a potter) John worked for David Frith in North Wales. He found the discipline hard, but it has stood him in good stead ever since.
Jane was born to a family of artists, creatives and potters. Growing up in the Suffolk countryside, her upbringing was unconventional. With little formal education, Jane left school early and entered a life of art, in keeping with family tradition.
Emily-Kriste Wilcox works from her studio in Birmingham, and has been a professional ceramicist for over 15 years. She was recently awarded 'Best Ceramics and Painting Studio 2020' in the West Midlands category of the UK Enterprise Awards.
