Nicola’s pottery is the culmination of 35 years making ceramics since studying Painting at Central School of Art and training at Aldermaston Pottery with Alan Caiger-Smith. She continues to work in tin-glaze, having perfected six main colours from vibrant coral and yellow through vivid greens and blues to soft purples. Her brushwork designs are inspired by the natural world, predominantly leaves, flowers, fruits and birds also sea creatures that all dance over the pearl white surface.
Christine-Ann trained at Harrow School of Art and Technology with Mick Casson (1971-73), then worked with David Leach. In London, she started her own workshop as a member of the Barbican Arts Group (1975-83) and in 1976 became a Selected Member of the Craftsmen Potters Association and the Society of Designer Craftsmen. She now works from her home, a converted chapel near Frome in Somerset.
David read philosophy and literature at Warwick University. Realising the lack of jobs as a philosopher, he became a potter and taught part-time in the ceramics department at Wolverhampton University for thirty years. This allowed him the space in which to continue with his personal practice. He was awarded a PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016. David used the inquiry within his thesis to examine the question of how he could employ the language of materiality, making, and firing (particularly raku) to critically focus on issues of personal identity.
Tricia comes from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and studied ceramics at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen in the 1980’s. After a three-year spell working as a decorator/designer in a production pottery in the Highlands, she moved to Edinburgh to become a ceramic artist specialising in wheel-thrown porcelain.
Irena Sibrijns has been a potter for over thirty years. Inspired by an avid interest in 20th century English decorative arts tradition Irena creates exquisite, and entirely unique, ornamental and functional pieces with equal enthusiasm.
Marcus produces expressive functional stoneware and porcelain rooted in the Leach Hamada tradition. He is also greatly inspired by the Irish landscape.
