All of our makers are members of the Craft Potters Association and each of them have a story to tell.

Matthew Blakely

Matthew’s work explores the links between ceramics and geology and place, making pieces entirely from geological samples that he has collected from specific locations around the country, and that illustrate the ceramic qualities inherent in these materials.

Gilles Le Corre

Gilles makes a variety of functional and one –off thrown stoneware pieces. His forms are freely manipulated on the potter’s wheel, some are altered and joined to construct taller larger pieces, other have incised marks applied to the soft clay revealing a subtle and tactile quality to the work, carrying a sense of captured sculptural movement.

Phil Lyddon

Phil throws and hand-builds in various stoneware clays, making bowls, vases and sculptural forms. However, his main output is concentrated on small-scale porcelain and white stoneware bowls and bottles. They are exclusively hand thrown.

Marcus produces expressive functional stoneware and porcelain rooted in the Leach Hamada tradition. He is also greatly inspired by the Irish landscape.

Eric Moss

Eric creates individual, nest-able sculpture and desktop/wall-mounted tessellated ‘waveforms’ in various scales, bodies and finishes. Often multi-part and at varied scales, each unique sculpture can stand alone or combine with others in manifold display opportunities. Inspiration, from the natural and industrial worlds, has evolved the work into simple geometries which reveal subtle complexities on closer examination.

Duncan Ayscough

Duncan’s fascination with clay began as a child in his parents’ garden. The colour, smell and malleability of the earth led him to discover at school the transformation of clay by heat into a permanent object. As a teenager, Duncan was captivated by seeing his teacher throwing a pot on a kick-wheel, his bedroom posters were images of communist revolutionary heroes and 20th-century studio pottery.
