Growing up in communist Poland, Ania’s everyday life was underpinned and surrounded by stark, grey concrete structures – brutal, imposing, and unavoidable. This architecture was raw, substantial and woven into the history and fabric of the country and her upbringing.
Kate studied 3D Design at the University of Brighton. After graduating, she participated in an international ceramic residency in Japan where she worked alongside established Japanese, Korean, and American artists. On her return, Kate set up her ceramic studio in London where she worked for nearly ten years. She now works from her garden studio in Kent making raku and stoneware pieces.
Motoko was born in 1962 in Tokyo. She graduated from Saitama University, and trained at the Takasaki College of Art. From 1993, Motoko spent six years working at the Utatsuama Craft Workshop and the Oshigahara Workshop, and then came to England in 1999.
Juliet Macleod makes wheel-thrown porcelain that imparts an evocative exploration of the Scottish coast. Using a distillation of drawings and photographs made over many years, she creates contemplative pieces which hope to engage the viewer and spark their own memories.
Jin Eui Kim is an internationally renowned ceramic artist. Originally from South Korea, he now lives and works in Cardiff, UK.
Whilst at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Jin Eui studied the illusory effects of the application of tonal bands to three-dimensional surfaces. He graduated with an MA and PhD in Ceramics.
Lesley was born in Lancashire, England and is based in Stoke Newington in London.
She discovered ceramics at an early age, in Australia, where the textures and colours of the landscapes and terrain greatly influenced her. She studied firstly in Australia where she gained a Diploma (Distinction) in Ceramics at Caulfield Institute of Technology in 1982.
